Rewatching sessions...

I ran through my J-movie stash since a friend of mine asked about Kuroshitsuji live action, not sure why she wants to watch this one (the movie where the only main point is HIRO IS SO DAMN KAKKOII, and that's it) while shunned Kenshin live action from the get go (I suggested it and it got shut down right away LOL). And... while running through my stash, I started clicking and I just marathon-ed 2 movies... Tenshi no Koi and Hanamizuki. Clearly these 2 movies are NOT the right movie to watch on a weekday, damn I'm still half sobbing as I'm writing this.

I think I'm going to just rewatching my old stash of movies. They just reminds me why I love J-movies and dramas in the first place, the magic! It gives you that feels, hard to describe, the closest thing that I can think of, is the depth of emotions are conveyed from the movies. Maybe it's the script or just the overall theme of the movie itself, but it's something that's lacking from the current J-movies. Seriously, they really gotta stop with all those live actions, unless they really put real effort in producing them. Else, don't, just stop, you're butchering fantastic manga stories that actually still have that magic and those magical moments that makes you squeel in manga and they just disappear the moment you see it on screen, and that's just SAD T__T.

So here I'm praying hard that Ikuta Toma's Sensei! is not butchered *crossing fingers & toes*

... the whole trailer here translated to just the first 10 chapters only... out of 80plus chapters... gee, I'm really extremely nervous now LOL...

On the seinen live action part, based on the trailers, it looks like Gintama (though I'm not the fan) and Fullmetal Alchemist will be the good ones, and I still have reservation for Ajin & Tokyo Ghoul (not from the acting part, the packaging part).

OMG you watched Hanamizuki at day? XD You are brave to do so XD My whole day would be gloomy hehe (that is why I watch it in the evening hehe)

And about that old j-movies, I totally agree with you. Old movies were much better and yeah they do have something special in them... The new ones are are missing it sometimes are very rushed. And I am glad I am not the same who is upset with live actions... I think they are ruining magic in manga in most of it. So I totally understand your feeling. (Btw what annoys me much more are REMAKES!! like Hana Kimi or Kimi wa petto and many others... I just hate remakes. :P for me it is waste of time of everybody- actors, directors, and audience as well :P )

During summer I want read sensei manga. (I have started 1st chapter and I think only actress in movie will annoy me. In manga I like the girl till now, not sure about movie.)

OMG really? They showed 10 chapters in trailer?! :O then it will be rushed :/ I am worried a bit now... :( well we need to see the movie right?

Woaaah Ajin! I plan watching anime It look interesting :)

I watched it at night, after work, but it's working day and I was bawling at night like a pathetic heartbroken fool, and the next day my eyes were puffy and the mood didn't even improve because it's freaking cold in the morning haha. Hanamizuki is the kinds of movies to watch on Friday night or Saturday night, I conclude.

There're some good & smart live actions. Obvious example is Kenshin and Bakuman, or even Gantz. It's not overly done and they take only the relevant parts or arcs from the manga and thoughtfully arrange it into movie format and the result, it's not rushed. And if they change the setting or the plot, eg. in Kano Uso, the change still makes sense and not offensive towards the original works. But most of live action esp these days, are driven by different motivation altogether. It's as if they just want to ride on the manga popularity and relying on actors' brand name to pull it off, and the worse thing is, this happens more often in Shoujo manga live action (the worst is when they convert smut manga into live action) compared to Seinen. At least in Seinen, they still putting up more effort in the slicing and dicing the story up.

Remakes... I think I did a whole long rant about remakes before. Remakes is just a lazy attempt to ride on the classic drama's popularity. There're lots of factors on why the classics are classic (well loved and remembered throughout time), be it the actors' chemistry, who are in the cast for the classics (some of the names are irreplaceable), the story relevance at the time, etc, and most of the time, you cannot duplicate that. But no, I think the industry is driven by money hence the idea of remake is so tantalizing for producers, regardless whether it makes sense or not. Hence, you'll see so many fails for remakes and the only people who say it's good are the very young generation that never see or read the original works, or just pinning on their favorite actors.

Yeah, do let me know once you get to read the manga, just to remind you that it's an old manga so the value and story flow will be different from the current ones :).

Haha I can imagine XD Yes definitely friday/ saturday evening movie :)

Yes of course there are some good ones, but I am sorry I did not see Kenshin and Bakuman. I even never heard about them to be honest. But yees Gantz weas great :D (even my bro who does not like Jmovies/ dramas/ arashi watched it with me and liked it XD)
I totally agree that they want make money from manga/anime/actor/ actress popularity! It is sad but it is like that :/
Sorry I dont know Seinen so I cant say anything about it.
Oh really? I should look more into your blog hehe :D
This: " lazy attempt to ride on the classic drama's popularity."- I could not describe it better! yeah it is like that which is shame and it makes cinematography boring i would say.
And yup no one can duplicate the factors which created original work. Oh yeah again money :(

Soo I am on 7th volume, and I kinda like it. But I think they should make Hibiki realise her love little bit later I would say. I dont think somebody would fall in love this soon XD also I think she is so immature considering she is in highschool. But maybe it is just me. Anyhow I will continue cos I am curious about what will happen next. (oh actually I like older mangas more :D so that is fine with me)

You started reading the manga, yey! Glad that you kinda like it, n yes Hibiki is immature but if you think that this is old manga, current children do mature faster than those children in the past, that's why it out senses patience n care for hibiki is so compelling hi hi, the side characters' stories are also interesting too, keep on reading n let me know your thoughts ne :)
